This Old Cider Orchard is on a hillside that leads down to the River Wye in the hamlet of Breinton near the Welsh border and in the shadow of the Black Mountains. A small group of people have recently purchased this land when it became available with the main objective of thwarting it becoming development land for housing. Instead they will maintain and develop the orchard whilst encouraging wildlife and improving the bio-diversity.
This is the first photographic shoot, made soon after the purchase was completed. The new landowners were taking samples of the apple trees so that they could be DNA tested at Aberystwyth University to enable them to identify the different varieties.
