Shooters Bar
Wayne, the bar owner, having an early evening drink with some of the regulars and staff.

Shooters Bar 2018

I know Wayne from years ago, he lived opposite my Auntie Laurie when he was growing up in George Street, Leominster. We have a shared sense of history that spans the 1970’s and 80’s. He remarked that he missed George Street when we met outside his bar in town.

Shooters isn’t a club with membership, but has that comfortable feel to it. This was the first time that I had ever been inside, which is a shame as Wayne told me that he was going to ‘pack it in’ this year. It’s the place to go for a ‘late one’; and in the early evenings trusted regulars are encouraged to pull their own pints. I duly pulled a half of cider for myself!

Inside and attached to Shooters is a larger bar/event space called ‘The Shed’. The building is an ancient timber framed ‘barn’ or ‘shed’ as they get called around here. For many years it was the site of Grafton Market, which housed a series of different market stalls under one roof.

Ian hadn’t intended to have a drink, but called in to pick up his lost jacket that had his keys in it. He was pleased to have his keys and the jacket back, but wondered what had happened to the six cigarettes that had been in the pocket!
